Bass Guitar

The old upright 4-string bass fiddle is one of the grandest and most fundamental acoustic stringed instruments common to all of folk music over the last several centuries in America. The addition of the bass adds the "bottom" that gives both depth and richness to the music and sets the tempo for all other instruments to follow. In recent years, the bass fiddle has been replaced by the more compact 4-string electric bass guitar, which for the most part adequately substitutes for the bass fiddle and adds the vital bass part to the music. In the LVFMS, we use the 4-string bass guitar amplified lightly to add depth and balance to our otherwise fully acoustic sound.
