AMERICAN FOLKLIFE CENTER at the Library of Congress was created by Congress in 1976 "to preserve and present American Folklife." The Center incorporates the Archive of Folk Culture, which was established at the Library in 1928 as a repository for American Folk Music. The Center and its collections have grown to encompass all aspects of folklore and folklife from this country and around the world.

AUGUSTA HERITAGE CENTER of Davis & Elkins College in Elkins, West Virginia is dedicated to making traditional music, crafts, dancing and folklore available to visitors and residents alike. Since 1973, thousands of people of all ages, from all 50 states and many foreign countries have found their way to this picturesque mountain town and learned, shared and enjoyed this interesting and valuable heritage.

BALTIMORE FOLK MUSIC SOCIETY is a nonprofit, educational organization dedicated to preserving and promoting folk music, dance, and tradition. BFMS sponsors regular dances, concerts,family events, and related activities year-round.

BRANDYWINE FRIENDS OF OLD TIME MUSIC is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to the preservation and presentation of the traditional music of the United States, particularly that of the Southern Appalachians; classic early country music; and also bluegrass. Formed in 1972 in Wilmington, Delaware

CALLIOPE: PITTSBURGH FOLK MUSIC SOCIETY A nonprofit educational and presenting organization that promotes and preserves traditional and contemporary folk music and its allied arts. Calliope programs are unique to western Pennsylvania.

FOLK ALLIANCE based in Washington, DC, seeks to create new and better opportunities for all those involved in the performing folk arts. Founded in 1989, the Folk Alliance was created to increase public awareness of the vital artistic and cultural importance of folk music and dance, because the founders believed that through folk music and dance, living cultural expressions and traditions are shared, heightening understanding of all cultures, and enriching our quality of life.

FOLKLORE SOCIETY OF GREATER WASHINGTON furthers the understanding, investigation, appreciation, and performance of the traditional folk music and folklore of the American people. FSGW presents over 200 folk events in the metropolitan DC area each year, including festivals, concerts, dances and swaps.

JUST PLAIN FOLKS is a growing free society of songwriters, recording artists and just about anyone connected to original music composition. JP Folks warmly embraces and welcome ALL genres of music, and everyone who creates, facilitates and consumes music around the world.

GOLDEN LINK FOLK SINGING SOCIETY in Rochester, New York offers concerts of folk performers, a monthly newsletter, a lending library of folk music recordings and books,a folk musician's reference service, folk music workshops, an annual weekend folk festival, and free weekly Tuesday night sing-arounds.

GREATER PINELANDS DULCIMER SOCIETY (Mt. Laurel,NJ) meets and jams at the Pinelands Folk Music Center in Burlington County, New Jersey where aficionados of old time, Celtic, Gospel or folk music come to relax, sing, make music and obtain musical necessities. Concerts, performances and lessons are going on almost all the time.

GREEN WILLOW FOLK CLUB specializes in presenting the opportunity for audiences in the Wilmington, Delaware area to see top caliber touring Celtic and British Isles musicians in intimate, friendly performance venues. In 1999, Green Willow was incorporated as a non-profit organization in 1999 through the auspices of the North American Folk Music and Dance Alliance.

PHILADELPHIA FOLK SONG SOCIETY is the oldest,largest and most successful volunteer folk organization in North America...since 1957. Dedicated to promoting folk music in the Delaware Valley and beyond.

PRINCETON FOLK MUSIC SOCIETY has encouraged the growth of folk music in central New Jersey for 35 years sponsoring monthly house sings for members and monthly concerts by visiting folk singers and songwriters.

SMITHSONIAN CENTER FOR FOLKLIFE PROGRAMS The collections of the Center for Folklife Programs and Cultural Studies focus on the expressive traditions of communities in the United States and worldwide including materials on occupational folklore, family folklore, American musical traditions, and African American, Native American and other ethnic performance traditions. The archives organizes these collections, preserves them, and provides access to them by preparing catalogues and assisting with onsite consultation. The archives also collaborates with diverse communities and institutions in the development of strategies and practices for the collection, preservation, and dissemination of their own cultural traditions or those entrusted to their care.

SUSQUEHANNA FOLK MUSIC SOCIETY is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and encouraging the traditional arts in Central Pennsylvania. SFMS currently sponsors concerts, dances, craft workshops and jam sessions from September through June.

TURTLEDOVE FOLK CLUB (a non-profit organization) exists to foster and promote traditional, contemporary and multicultural folk music and dance, and related performing arts in Southeastern Pennsylvania. The TurtleDove Folk Club seeks to strengthen its surrounding social community through presenting shows in the folk arts with a focus on education, cultural enlightenment and grassroots networking.
