Instruments
The Lehigh Valley
Folk Music Society's live performances are strictly acoustic to preserve the
richness of the acoustic instruments and maintain the natural sound. However, we
use microphone sound reinforcement to amplify both voice and instruments when playing in larger
areas. The Folk Society musicians each play a variety of stringed instruments common
to American folk music -- 6 and 12-string guitar, resonator guitar (Dobro), Weissenborn guitar, fiddle, bass, mandolin, banjo,
ukulele, autoharp, and mountain and hammered dulcimer -- plus other folk instruments including harmonica,
recorder, octave mandolin and a variety of hand-held percussion.
